Jane Johnston of Markethill sent some pictures of her partbred filly foal, who arrived two weeks before her due date, in June.  The filly is named Honey, both for her colour and her sweet temperament, and Jane loves her to bits !  Her Mum is Missy's Delight, and this is her first foal. Missy is by Song of Freedom.

Here Honey and Missy share a trough with Jane's bay filly, Abby.

Honey is a daughter of Robe Thunder, who is now standing in the south of Ireland.

Our member, Mr. Sammy Wilson, Ballymena, was delighted to welcome his first ever Connemara foal on June 1st 2009 !  Congratulations ! The foal is by Moyan's Little Monkey and the proud mum is Loughfadda Galloon Dawn ( M1- 14322 ). She is by Laerkens Cascade Dawn and ex Loughfadda Blackbush ( Village Boy ), and Mr.Wilson bought her from James Naan. Thanks to Mr.Wilson's daughter, Betty, for sending us the news !

Another Little Monkey, named 'Paddy' ( well, he was born on March 17th ! ), is shown below with his mum, Banagher Cailín ( a.k.a. Josie ), who is by Black Dandy ex Cailín na Coille ( Westside Mirah X Dun Aengus ).  They belong to Sue and Nigel Johnston of Ballymoney.

And here is Paddy again, along with his friend Bobby. ( by Bobby Sparrow Blue ex Atlantic Gal ( Coral Prince )). Clearly they are very happy together.

A surprise arrival in the townland of Kilmore, near Lurgan, on August 5th was this little golden colt, who is 3/4 Connemara. His sire is Midas Touch, a 3 y-o by Coral Prince, and mum, Benvarden Grianán. An IHB registered part-bred by Donegreagh Applejack S 1054 ( Spring Con x Belmore Bluebell ), she is out of Dawn Rising, a chestnut TB mare by Le Moss. Le Moss won the Gold Cup at Ascot in both 1987 and 1988.   Only a few hours old when these pictures were taken, the relationship between the first-time mum and her baby had already survived a take-over bid from Auntie Molly, a cob mare who would love a foal of her own !  It is hoped the foal will keep his gorgeous, antique gold colour !
