BY KIND INVITATION OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE
N.IRELAND SUPPORT GROUP FOR THE R.B.S.T.
SATURDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2011.
GOSFORD FOREST PARK, MARKETHILL.
CO.ARMAGH.
CONNEMARA, RIDDEN AND DRIVEN RARE BREED SECTION.
For the information of exhibitors, breeds on the R.B.S.T. Watchlist, classified as 'rare' by the R.B.S.T are the British Breeds as follows :-
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Eriskay, Fell, Dales, Cleveland Bay, Suffolk Punch, Shire, Highland, Hackney and Clydesdale.
We are very grateful to Mrs. Helen Morgan, of Ballynahinch, who agreed to step in at very short notice after our original judge was injured, and give of her experience for the benefit of our show. Also to volunteer stewards Pauline and Nola, who attended the judge.
Full results and pictures are posted below, and please note that these are copyright of the NICPBA. The professional photographer present on the day, Darren Leavesley, has images for sale, and these can be viewed and purchased online by following the information just below :-
Happily it remained dry almost all day, though with the recent purchase of a marquee - at a very reasonable price - the Association are now prepared with shade and shelter. Actually we should be on commission to the supplying firm, since representatives of both the NE Connemara Pony Breeders and the Irish Draught Society were most impressed with our accomodation, and may well be ordering their own marquees as a result ! Thanks to the crews who aided in the erection and dismantling of the structure, we had lots of space to administer the event, and look forward to many more happy occasions in our red tent !
Well done to all our exhibitors,
and thanks to them all for making the
Rare Breeds Show such a success !

2010 SHOW
The committee of the NICPBA wish, on behalf of the membership and exhibitors, to express their appreciation to the judge, Mr. Paddy Traynor of Moyan Stud, Ballymena. Coming to us at very short notice after our original judges were unable to attend, he did an excellent job in what turned out to be one of those 'misty' days to which we inevitably return after good hay weather ! If some of the photos of the show look artistically 'fuzzy' ( in 'soft focus' ), blame the drips which descended from the sky in abundance !

We are delighted to confirm that Irwin's Bluegrass Horsefeeds continued their support of the NICPBA as the principal sponsors of our show at Gosford again this year. Pictured above at last year's event, Craig presented the Championship rosette to James Naan, whose 2 y-o filly Tawnydun Caramel was bred by Penny Makinson in Cheshire. As Champion, 'Mella' also received a Bluegrass Rug. Craig was pleased with the enquiries on the day about Bluegrass feed, whose product range is headed by their Stamm 30 Balancer, a formulation particularly suited to native pony diets. The Bluegrass range is backed by extensive work on equine metabolism carried out at the Kentucky Equine Research facility in the U.S.
