Galloon Ceol , bred and owned by James Naan, our esteemed member from Newtownbutler, 3rd in the 2 year old colt class. This strong dun colt is bred from Newtown Golden Rose ( M1- 13225 ), James' very sucessful dun mare, and sired by Murphy's Oscar ( S 1019 ), who stands with Philip McMahon in Belturbet. We look forward to the stallion inspections in the spring, and the opportunity to use this grand colt !
Belleek member, Donagh Gallagher, took his outstanding colt foal by Jim Ferguson's Drumbad Fletcher Moss , and out of Knockadalteen Lady, into the line up in a big class, to finish 10th. Well done to this young breeder !!
Castletowngeoghan breeding and Augher training made a sucessful combination when Pauline McLaren's yearling filly, Monaghanstown Mary ( by Mountain Cascade S 1219 out of Pat & Mary Rabbitt's lovely speckled grey mare Monaghanstown Sheba M 10954 ) was placed 10th in her class. Well done Pauline !
Francis & Deirdre O'Reilly, our friends from Dundalk, showed their English registered, but Irish bred, Glencarraig Lucy, to 4th place in the 10- 15 y-o mare class.
And those who have done well at The Country Comes to Town have been consistent in their sucess. John Joe O'Neill of Co.Galway brought his homebred dun colt to the All Ireland Registered Connemara Foal Final in 2005, finishing on that occasion the only colt among the first six. Now fully approved, the very handsome Caherlistrane Prince ( S1-2534 ) was 5th in the three year old stallion class. Prince is by Silver Shadow ( S 1141 ) and out of the Spring Con mare, Miss Muffet ( M 9878 ).
Last years Reserve Champion Foal at the CCtT was Val Noone's Crusheen Scarlet, out of his splendid old mare Stoney Princess ( M 8542 ). Proving that old type and bone are still the best, Princess can be proud of her Monaghanstown Fionn daughter, who was placed 4th in the yearling class.
And last years owner of the Ridden Champion, Mrs. Norma Spurr, of Ballygowan, watched her daughters ride to sucess, each in their turn, in their respective classes. Katie was 3rd in the class for 6-8 y-o ponies, and Niamh 2nd in the 16-20 y-o rider class, both mounted on their English imported grey, Copshawholm Bobby Ravel. He is by Garryhinch Prince ( S 861 ) and out of Dolly ( ECPS 01647 ).
